Sam and Diane, Ross and Rachel, Chuck and Blair—who is your favorite TV couple?

View other answers

Haven't we had that question before???
Well even though they never got to be a couple (or well at least they haven't up to now) it's clearly House and Wilson!
Followed by Brain&Justin, Big&Carrie, John&Aeryn, Ross&Rachel .... There's pretty much an endless list. I just can't decide. Love them all =P

I visited an old friend of mine a couple of days ago and discoverd she had one of these awesome skatching pads for the computer. Of course I had to try it out and made two drawings, showing two characters from Queer as Folk:  Brian and Justin

And yes I had a reference. I think they are not too bad for the first try (god it was so confusing drawing on the computer) and considering I haven't done much drawing since I went to NZ.

Star Wars, Star Trek, Battlestar Galactica, Serenity, Alien, 2001—there is a long list of movies and TV shows that take place in space. Which is your favorite?

View other answers

That one is easy: Farscape!
I loved it since I first started watching it. I remember it used to be on German Pay TV every day for a couple of months. They showed the first three seasons and I was desperate to see the last and fourth one, but until now I haven't. They never translated it into German and only showed it in Enlgish. I used to be not good enough to understand it, so I gave up. Now I have all the seasons on DvD as well as the final movie "Peacekeeper Wars" (which again got translated into German and I have seen on TV). I started watching them in English when I got back from NZ - now finding it  easy to understand - but still haven't got to the fourth season.

What else do I like? Star Trek - Next Generation, Voyager, Star Gate ...

I have seen a few episodes of Bettlestar Galactica but didn't really get it. That might be cause I just started watching it right in the middle of one of the season. So I might give it a go when I finished watching Farscape - and Queer as Folk which I need to finish too but has really nothing to do with space at all.

Writer's Block: Same Name

Crazy

Have you ever met or known someone who has the same name as you (first and last) but is not a relative?

View other answers

No I haven't met someone with my first and last name. I have met people with my first or last name though. I always find that really interesting, because both of them are not that common. Okay they are not quite what I would call unique but it's not like you meet someone called by one of them every day.
I know there is another person called like me though - several people actually. I googled my name once, just as you do and found like three people on facebook with the same name.
And there was an article about a woman with the same name. She got 496 DSL-routers delivered to her house by mistake. That really made me laugh.
Sooo .. Maybe one time I'll meet one of these people but I doubt any of them is a fantastic as I am :P

2009 the European Election

  • May. 11th, 2009 at 6:54 PM
i am who i am

2009 a year of change, a year of political importance, a year of elections – One would guess that given it is such an important year for all political parties there would be bloody fight out there. With very smart and very informative election campaigns. One would guess, that there would be politicians out there passing laws that are constructive and representative for the very basic thoughts of the Basic Law for the Federal Republic of Germany .... One would guess.

The reality indeed looks somewhat different: A bunch of insecure and anxious parties, that are only focused to get the majority in the upcoming elections. Only on focused on how to make the other parties look the least strong and the most ridiculous, while forgetting to be advocates of freedome, equality and the Basic Law - Forgetting the basic idea behind an election campaign: Trying to convince the people why exactly they are supposed to vote for them, getting them to understand what is going on in the politics at the moment, getting them to understand why it is important to vote, getting them to understand that the government and politics is not something done by some higher standing people not influenced and in your hand at all.

As Abraham Lincoln said: Democracy is the government of the people, by the people, for the people. And this is what they should teach and try to achieve. This is what the should convince of us the are representatives of.

Instead of that we are getting election poster that claim use full things like: “Us in Europe”

What exactly is that supposed to tell us and why exactly is that meant to get me to vote for anyone. I am in Europe and I'm still going to be there, if I vote or not. Is that meant to tell me that I'm supposed to vote for them in the European Parliament election? It seems sort of obvious that this would be what every party wants from me and is still not telling me why exactly I'm supposed to do it. Does it mean that they are representing us in Europe? Well than I'm guessing they got something wrong, because I always thought that every party would have that task as soon as we vote them into the parliament.

Others try to attract us with simple paroles like: Europe-wide minimum wages, Freedom and Equality etc. That all seems a bit plain and minimalistic. I always thought that was what every party was trying to achieve? I thought it was about telling us how they would achieve things for us, how their plans look like and it actually means for me to get Europe-wide minimum wages.

But I guess telling me that they have plans is still better what again others parties seem to be doing. Looking at their election posters I'm not too sure whether or not they actually realised they are running an election campaign and not a very bad comedy show.

So we are getting to see sharks, hair dyers and coins as eye catchers accompanied by sayings like: “Hot air(hair dryer) would vote for 'Die Linken'”, “Financial-Sharks(hard to translate I hope you get the general idea) would vote for FDP” and “Dumpingwadges would vote for CDU”

That all sound very insecure and rather mean. Given that this is supposed to be a social party it only seems even more pathetic to me. Did they reach a point where they have nothing else to convince us with than salming others? I find that rather alarming. I do not want to be governed by a party that does not even know why they should be voted for.

Considering these lousy campaigns it does not surprise me that no one is actually interested in voting. I haven't ever heard one of them ever explaining why exactly it is important to vote, or explaining what is going on and why voting is useful for everyone. None of them ever told or explained to me what the European union is all about. So why should I be interested to vote for its parliament when I don't understand anything about it?

Would any of them make the effort and get people to know what it is all about, educate them about current events and affair in all honesty and convince people with plans and facts and for once be authentic I bet they would not even need to put up election posters. People would know that they are there for them. That they are there to help the people to form their own government and try to act for them as best as possible. People would know why they needed them and they would get their votes. They would crate a government of the people, by the people and for the people.

But then it seems like the Basic Law seems long forgotten and that people do not believe in freedom any longer – or how can it be that they are passing laws that approve of censorship, while making it compulsory to study English literature thematising dangers of that very thing. I can only assume they haven't ever read the books they make us read otherwise they would not even consider laws like this.

Closing websites and putting them on lists no one is allowed to inspect and without explaining why exactly they are forbidden. Without having to justify anything. That's censorship of the worst kind. There is no doubt that child pornography should be fought against and that it should be punished but not at the expense of freedom. Not by violating the basic law. Who stops them to ban websites they just don't like if there is no control? No justifying and secret lists? History has shown that getting control of the press and media by the government has always been the first step into the wrong direction. And Article 5 guarantees:

“Every person shall have the right freely to express and disseminate his opinions in speech, writing, and pictures and to inform himself without hindrance from generally accessible sources. Freedom of the press and freedom of reporting by means of broadcasts and films shall be guaranteed. There shall be no censorship.

So this is out of question. There is no turning around meanings and no playing with words. I know the next paragraph says: “These rights shall find their limits in the provisions of general laws, in provisions for the protection of young persons, and in the right to personal honour. “. But it's always the way it is done. It is the states duty to protect but not to control.

So what's the answer to all of this? I'm guessing all I can do is to use my right to vote and my right of petition. I have to inform myself even more and I have to share my thoughts ...
I might be wrong with all of this, and if this is they case I will admit it without hestitating but at least I'm honest and authentic. Something other people still have to learn

Yay

There are days you feel like someone slapped your right in the face.

A 17-year-old ran amok in a high school in Winnenden near Stuttgard today. He killed 15 people .
The police said he entred the Albertville-Realschule at about 9:30 and started shooting around during class time. The heavily armed ex-student killed nine students and three teacher. On the run from the police he killed three more people. He was killed in a shoot-out with the police later.

All he left is a chaos, destruction, pain and a country in speechless terror and deep mourning, asking itself how something like this could happen? And why 15 innocent people had to die like this ....

Our thoughts are with the victims and their families. We feel with them and hope there is some comfort for them in this hard time ....

If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you go?

View other answers

Right now? New Zealand. I miss it so much if someone would offer me a possibility to go there I would do it right now.
Otherwise? Sweden! I always wanted to see that country (not just because of Linn ...) and now that Linn lives there I want to see it even more. It has to be very very beautiful!! And Swedish sounds soooo amazing. I still want to learn it!
Still New Zealand is my number one ... How could it not be? Home is always first I'd say.

Do you consider yourself an optimist, a pessimist, or a realist?

View other answers

A realistic optimist. Most of the time I'm like "Yes I do that and it just had to work" or "It's gonna be okay" (etc) and I try to really believe in it buton the other hand I know it's often quite unrealistic. So I'm not hugely dissapointed if it doesn't happen or work the way I intented it to. Still I would never give up my chances to be an optimist! I mean the worlds is already grey and black, we all know that, at least I can imagine some white into it. And who knows, if I believe strong enough, maybe it will become real ;)

Even if you're not actively eavesdropping, you can hear some interesting things. What's the best conversation you've ever overheard?

View other answers

This happened at a very "nice" all girls school, I'm not going to say which one. :D The most shocking conversation i ever heard from year nines!

- We've been going out for TWO weeks now!
- Wow you guys are gonna have sex soon right?!
- Of course we are, we've been planning on it for ages!
(yeah right in a two week long realtionship -.-)
- So what are you going to do for ... you know what ... you know ...
- Well I 'm not on the pill and buying condoms is soooo embarrassing. I mean I couldn't actually walk into a pharmacy or a supermarket and buy them. Who would ever do that?!
- So ... ?
- Well I'm justn guessing we are gonna use nothing that time. I mean come on it's the first time you can't actually get pregnant right?

I was totally shocked. Don't they have sex education or what?! I also was wondering what I was meant to do. Telling them that they can get pregnant or maybe even give her a condom (I had one in my bad ... just as you do you know xD). The problem got solved by my friends showing up and the little girls walking away. I just hope she never actually got pregnant. It would be a shame, and sort of my fault. Bad Kathi, really bad Kathi.

And the other conversation I just heared a day ago at the trainstation. It so reminded me of a converstion my sister ones overheard it felt like a dejavu and shows that peopl are as weird everywhere on the day.

- Got fucked to day?
- No. Not yet.
- Me neither. I feel like it!
- Ok let's go to school.

I mean wtf?! Some people are just STRANGE!!!!

Kathi and the exciting day full of paddling

I'm tired. And when I say tired I mean really tired. Like "OMG I think I'm going to fall asleep right here in front of the computer tired". How come? I've been surfing today and paddling is tiring. I mean it's fun and everything and I can get up and surf a wave and get off probably now (In 80% of the cases) but it's tiring. I'm not used to doing work with my arm except tiping and writing.
Well what else? I think I lost weight. I'm not too sure, but I think so. I better have. I've been running for nearly two months now and surfing and not many sweets (nearly none compared to before) so I better have. I want to loose these 5kg before I go back to Germany.
Tomorrow is my maths exam and I'm really looking forward to it. It's going to be fun.
Ah and btw I got a spoon. Or Anam got one for me I haven't got it yet.

And yeah ... that's about it.

ps. I'm thinking about cutting my hair short. Like short short lik  4 - 5 cm short. What do you say?

KILL THE BEES

  • Nov. 21st, 2008 at 4:51 PM
Shit happens mostly to me so don't worry
I HATE BEES! I HATE THEM!

So little innocent Kathi was walking across the lawn about 4 minutes ago and what happens? A cruel, heartless be stings her right in her foot! I got never ever ever ever ever ever ever ever stung (I hope that's the past tense) by a bee before, not once and now I got stung twice in less than a month. Life is unfair!
